Silver Edible Luster Dust for Cookies & Cakes by Bakell
If you've ever wanted your cookies to look like they came out of a jewelry box, this is the little jar that does it. Nu Super Silver is a rich, mirror-bright metallic that reads as real silver β not gray, not dull β on royal icing, buttercream, fondant, and chocolate.
I reach for silver constantly: winter and holiday sets, wedding and anniversary cookies, monograms and crowns, cowboy boots and belt buckles, and anytime a design needs one detail that catches the light. A tiny amount goes a long way, so one 4g jar lasts through a lot of cookie orders.
Two ways I use it:
Dry brushing β dip a soft, completely dry brush into the dust and sweep it over fully dried icing for a gentle metallic sheen. Best for large areas and soft highlights.
Edible metallic paint β mix a small pinch with a few drops of clear alcohol or a food-safe painting medium on a palette until it's the consistency of cream. Paint on your details and let it dry to a bright finish. This gives you the boldest, most reflective silver, and it's my favorite for lettering and fine lines.
A few of my tips:
- Always paint on fully dried, crusted icing so you don't dent your surface.
- Start with less liquid than you think you need β thin paint goes patchy, and you can always loosen it.
- A second coat after the first dries is what takes silver from pretty to jaw-dropping.
- Keep a dedicated brush for metallics; the dust clings to bristles.
- Cap it tightly and store it dry and away from heat so it doesn't clump.
